My SL story

MY SL story

After almost a year of hesitation I decided write and share with you all, what I believe was an unusual experience -- my time in Second Life.... Next Spring it will already be two years since I entered this virtual world, and as I notice from my list of contacts, which is already full of silent people, I think I already belong to the so-called SL trilobites, measured by my longevity inside SL. Sincerely I would be very interested to know the average lifespan of a citizen of this world. I also wonder how many of us Czech people live in here.
I follow the Czech users groups, but I am mostly A silent "watcher". I do have a lot of fun with some of the public group chats. Whatever we are, we Czech ppl are very funny nation, and I love the Czech sense of humor.
But back to my story. I think that I belong to those romantic dreamers, who like to use the pleasant places in SL as a lovely setting for a nice time spent with someone unknown, and often with someone very, very far away. Again and again I am fascinated to meet people who I would never meet in real life and people from the other side of the world. I like to share thoughts, wishes and dreams. In my contact list, besides Europeans, I can also find Mexican or Indian or American people. More and more, it's interesting to compare our worlds and cultures. I have met in SL avatars with the appearance of a cat, a nice skunk, or a charming vampire. Another thing which I appreciate in SL is that there you can be whom ever you like, or just yourself in the most interior sense. I usually spend my time in SL with friends, living with a varying number of friendships and a varying number of romantic relationships. It's my way to relax.
In this world of my dreams, I created for the eyes a nice looking creature. As I usually say about her, she is the result of my fantasy, and the things which we share are just: name, eyes and soul.
In my early SL period I met a lot of foreigners. It was always so fresh for me to speak to someone who likes to talk and has a rich imagination. When you add to this the poetic soul, it's very funny. At least for me. And it was exactly like this when I met one man, a Sicilian. Quite quickly we became friends and met together regularly. Very early he revealed to me part of his real life, his identity, who he really is and his profession. So I found out, that he is a writer. Not world famous exactly, but in his part of Southern Italy he is quite famous, especially as a playwright. He decided to write a book about this virtual world. He came to SL to search for insporation, to know the people living there, to collect materials, to gather notes. I will not bore you with the details of our beautiful and often romantic meetings. As he later said, we spent a wonderful summer of romance. And I can only agree with this.
At the end of the summer he began to write, and within a few months the book was ready. The Novel. A beautiful love story, against the background of the virtual world. But it is not just a novel of the pink library. The story is certainly interesting -- it could be said to be a psychological view and comparison of two worlds, the real and the virtual. While the story is the product of the author's imagination, I recognize myself there and I think he successfully captured the atmosphere of a virtual world really well, and also the atmosphere of our meetings. What is for me personally absolutely incredible, is the fact that the book's title is my name: Sarka. Yes. It is not presumptuous of me to say this, it really is me, who became the inspiration, or, you might say: the Muse for a novel of the Italian writer, and I am filled with sincere pride. Czech women are among the most beautiful women in all the world, men say. But I do not want to speak about the natural beauty here, we all know that Slavic types of women are, for example, highly sought after in the modeling world. What I personally believe is that what makes Czech women unique among others is just their souls, their sweet behavior and personality. And at this moment I am really proud that I can count myself among these women. Perhaps you will also enjoy a the piece of that feeling if read my story.
During that time when my good friend, who I like to call my "Italian Shakespeare", was writing his novel, we debated at length over the writing of each chapter. Our meetings developed another dimension. He asked me a lot of detail about life in the Czech Republic, origin of my name, favorite food, the names of places. And he used a lot of it in his novel. And even if he made a few grammar errors of the Czech language, Italian readers certainly do not mind them too much. And all this was huge fun for me..
The book, created in the world of dreams and fantasies, really exists. I have a copy of it in my hands, with the author's dedication. I have a reason not to reveal here exact names or contacts. Smart websurfers will easily find out information about the book or about the author. Indeed, there are book reviews in the Czech language, with a brief excerpt from that novel. The author and his friends from time to time hold "sessions" in SL. Like most artists, they love to discuss and talk about their works. For the same reasons he travels around Italy and participates in various meetings and discussions about his novel. Once he was in Rome. Representatives of the Czech embassy in Italy were invited, and curiously, the secretary's name was the same as mine. Sarka. Unfortunately, these talks are conducted in Italian, as that is the language in which the book is written.
Maybe if there were more votes from those who would like to read the book in Czech, it might be worthwhile for the publisher to undertake a Czech translation. Not just for the reason that one of the main characters is a Czech woman, but also, part of the story is set in a city in Northern Bohemia, where I live. Although I know the story well, because I was present at its birth, I don't speak Italian, and I have not yet had the pleasure to read it at all..
Well, this is my story from my "second life". Whenever I think about it now, from the distance of time, I always say: "Wow, This really happened to me!" Ask yourself, how many times in your life could this happen to you ...?
With best regards to all dreamers
Sarka
